I went to Ambrym on Wednesday on the wee Britten Islander plane,
to open 2 buildings.
A house for the Presbyterian Women in Utas and
a Dormitory at Assie.
Some beautiful sights are seen on the flight.
Its easy to get a window seat on this aircraft
The Presbyterian women's house
at Utas Village.
This is normal cooking style in Ambrym,
cooking on metal rods
and also in 90% of the islands.
The welcoming of the dormitory opening at Assie
The opening completed
This is the boys dormitory now opened
we also planted some tree seedlings
South East Ambrym has had its problems with water
supply for many years,
but plans are now underway to get water to
all villages, these tanks are
made out of cement, steel and chicken mesh, and
all made by hand.
NO cement mixers here.
these storage tanks are about 2 km up a hill
This Poly tank was donated by a women from
Renwick in Blenheim, many thanks!!!
It makes collecting rain water so much easier.
