We are heading down to Tanna today
to join the PCV General Assembly

We land on the West Coast of the Island, and then have a truck ride over
to white sands area, which is about 1 and half hours drive.

We have to open a New church building at Waisisi at lunch time
before going to Louneil for the welcome and start of the
General assembly in the afternoon.

The top of the South team will be going down to Port Resolution
to set up a building program to build
a New church in 2019, while we are in Tanna.

Here we have the team from PCANZ

to Tanna as Martyn broke his leg.

It is great to catch up with Rev Dawn who arrived from Talua Santo
to attend the General Assembly.

The guys are now getting ready to put the flooring
on the new toilet block at Etas school,

The men have laid the floor joyce for the toilet

We all arrived at Etas to find the container locked
and the key had been lost !!&##,
but this guy with his lighter opened the lock.

Ambae has now been evacuated

Gilbert who is from NZ,
is making these smokeless stoves for cooking.
You don't need much wood to cook with.

Yowell made this wooden box so the PCV could transport
their big printer to Tanna, We were pleased it fitted.

Here is a sunset in Port Vila harbour.

The guys are preparing the foundation for
the new toilet block up at Etas school.

The toilet will be a long drop type of toilet, as their is no
water available in Etas to have the flush type
toilet, also leaves may be used as paper.

Here is a photo of the materials that the Hibiscus team have been waiting for.
The team arrive's  next month (Sept) from the
Hibiscus Coast in Auckland to do this project.

It will be good to see all these materials
being put up, and the toilet block completed.

The sand for the foundations.

This is a photo of what Mr Kim (our neighbour) has been building,
miles out in the bush on Efate Island.
It's a Church building for the community.

The community are vey excited about this building,
which will be used as a kindy class  ( Monday - Friday's).

We had a builder come from Dunedin, to help his
friend to build the family house, in a suburb of
Fresh water,  Thanks Campbell.

The house wasn't completed when he returned home
today, after being here working on it for 2 weeks
but it will get completed!!

Their are a few walls still to be lined, but
this will get done in time.

Here are some water containers up at Etas area, waiting to get filled
as we enter the dry season.

Travelling Light
Kate arrived from Blenheim today, and is going to Santo tonight.
Her bags didn't make the flight to Port Vila and have remained in Auckland.
Hoping they will make it to Vanuatu tomorrow.

Our life in Port Vila

This was Knox's first ever ride on a Quad bike.
He is our neighbour ,and spends a lot of time with Gloria.
They popped down to the Seaside Library to get some books.

Today I had to purchase 80 blocks for the New toilet block
up at Etas school

They had to make the blocks as stocks were low

My Havaianas flip flop didn't last the full year
the rough roads in Vanuatu takes a high toll on flip flops.

This is what I call a coconut drink !!!!
I tasted a coconut drink in Australia which tasted of sugar.

Campbell from Dunedin NZ arrived over a week ago to help build this house
for a friend and they are up to putting on the roofing iron

The dry weather has arrived and people are
collecting water from the water sources
a 20 ltr cost 20 vatu

The cricket pitch grass is all brown
as the weather warms up

Our neighbourhood broke into a frenzy of excitement,
when a small piglet escaped, from this wooden holding pen
from a house two doors down.

Adults, youth, children, and dogs all raced from section to section in hot pursuit
of a  squelling small getaway pig
It reminded me of the days we had the event
"Catch the greasy pig" on the Picton foreshore
It was great fun for us children.
but not the pig.

It took about 30 minutes before the pig was caught.
It gave this dog a great workout
He's puffed out.

I think the pig would rather be in the cage now.

While in the Vila market, we came across this very small pineapple.

It was time to get the first aid kit out today at School,
                                                       and attend to some wounds.

This wee lad in green, has a boil on his foot,
so he was off home to have it looked at  ........ouchh
 after I covered it.
It's a very common sight at School.
The night Diver, this boy scraped his foot on the rocks affecting his 4 toes
He was excited to have bandaged up.

Masces School Teouma
Gloria was teaching out there today. A progress report
 on the 3 new Classrooms.
They have now been lined, and are waiting for doors and windows to
be fitted.

She got a surprise when I arrived with the PCV Health team
They were doing Teeth awareness, giving out a toothbrush, and eye checks today
to all the students at the school.

Flat 4 Twin Cains is now ready for new Tenants
Great job  Leinangus in the tidy up, and repainting the floors.

Its that time again ....Lawn mowing of Independence park, and
getting ready for the big Day Independence Day on Monday.

We have been trying to get building materials
to this team on Paama Island for weeks, and the day before
they were to leave, the materials arrived .

All wasn't lost, they were able to find work to help
this Paama Island village of Liro.
We  do have another team of 15 arriving in Liro
in September 2018.

They painted the Maternity clinic, and classrooms .

In Port Vila we have a hospital ship in ,
Medical and Dental
which is here for a few days,
treating those who want to be treated.

Today the hospital ship was out in the harbour,
as a Cruse ship  had arrived, and needed the wharf.

I have found Nemo!!
and I didn't need to go diving.

The tables at the container Cafe are used every day,
Thanks to those who have worked on them.

Another team is on their way back to NZ
after staying on Malakula Island.
